Behavioral Health, Integrated Care

Why did you become a behavioral health consultant?

I became a behavioral health consultant because I’ve always been drawn to understanding people beyond what’s visible on the surface. I’ve seen how much emotional pain can go unspoken, especially in communities that may not always have access to mental health support. I wanted to be someone who could meet patients where they are, help them feel understood, and offer practical tools that actually fit into their everyday lives.

What attracted you to a community health center?

Working in a community health center allows me to provide care that is accessible, integrated, and culturally responsive. I value being part of a team where behavioral health is embedded into medical care, so patients don’t have to navigate systems on their own. It also gives me the opportunity to serve diverse populations and reduce barriers to care in a meaningful way.

What do you enjoy or find most fulfilling about caring for patients?

What I find most fulfilling is helping patients feel seen, heard, and less alone in what they’re going through. Even brief interactions can make a difference—whether it’s helping someone understand their symptoms, teaching a coping strategy, or simply creating a space where they can speak openly. Seeing patients gain insight, confidence, or even a small sense of relief is what makes this work meaningful.

Do you have hobbies or a way you like to spend your time away from work?

Outside of work, I enjoy creative outlets like floral design and spending time with my dog on walks. I also prioritize staying active and finding small ways to reset, whether that’s through movement, travel, or spending time with friends and family.
