Monica Reps, LPC

Telehealth, Behavioral Health

Why did you become a healthcare provider?

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who works with adults 18+, especially older adults and the peculiarities related to this population, such as phase of life challenges (adjusting to life after retirement and other life changes), neurocognitive disorders (Parkinson’s disease, early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia). I specialize in myriad of mental health concerns, substance use challenges, and dual-diagnosis issues. I have extensive training and experience in mental health crisis intervention and emergency support as a result of many years of work in emergency departments in various hospitals in Arizona. My approach is evidence-based, collaborative and client-centered, offering a safe, nonjudgmental space for growth. I’m committed to empowering clients toward lasting well-being, if they are ready and committed to change.

Do you have hobbies or a way you like to spend your time away from work?

When I’m not working my regular job, I dedicate my time to animal rescue, as well as wildlife and nature advocacy — a hands-on experience filled with challenges and heartwarming moments. I love being part of the animal’s journey to a better life, whenever that is possible, and to advocate for all aspects involving nature. For me, this work isn’t just a hobby; it’s a passion that brings purpose outside the daily grind, reminding me how kindness and respect for all living beings can change lives — both theirs and ours.

What do you enjoy or find most fulfilling about caring for patients?

I became a mental health counselor, because some people don’t have anyone else to turn to and talk about problems they may be experiencing, especially in areas with high mental health stigma or issues facing specific groups like older adults, women or the LGBTQIA+ community. I also like to help people find and live their most fulfilling life and to help empower them to take control over their future when, at times, the future seems bleak due to a dismal past or present.
