Laura Rhead, MS, RDN

Registered Dietitian

Why did you become a healthcare provider?

It started when I realized I could merge my love for fitness and food! I loved challenging myself athletically and seeing the impact food had on my performance. I wanted to become a dietitian that helped others in their athletic career and their food journeys. I want people to have a quality of life that they thrive in and not one that they just survive. As I’ve grown as a Dietitian, I have seen how I have mended my relationship with food. I believe all people should have a healthy relationship with food and it has been my goal to help people get there through shifting their mindset and habits and learning about nutrition. It has been a sweet journey and a fulfilling one as I’ve seen people thrive!

What do you enjoy or find most fulfilling about caring for patients?

I enjoy meeting new people, learning about their lives, and building trust with them. It’s been sweet to have patients open up about their struggles with food and provide practical ways to improve their quality of life. It is really fulfilling and encouraging when a patient comes back and feels better and are working on the goals we set. I love being part of that journey. Also here at Adelante, I really enjoy seeing the diversity of patients from all over the world and getting to learn about their culture and foods.

Do you have hobbies or a way you like to spend your time away from work?

I’m a triathlete and love to exercise. I enjoy spending time with my husband in the outdoors, visiting restaurants, or playing board games. I enjoy bringing people together. I’m a learner and an avid Escape Room fanatic!

If you could be anything else, what would you want to be?

A pilot! I think flying is fascinating and an amazing feat.
