Heather Benson, PA-C

Telehealth, Behavioral Health

Why did you become a healthcare provider?

I first fell in love with community health while studying public health in college. What I enjoy most is working with people who share the same goal of helping others. I especially love being able to help patients get connected to care they might not have known about or had access to previously, like case management or therapy, and often within just a few days.

Do you have hobbies or a way you like to spend your time away from work?

I love spending time with family and friends outdoors. Some of my favorite activities are kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, and visiting family in Idaho during the summer to pick huckleberries.

What do you enjoy or find most fulfilling about caring for patients?

I love seeing people make progress toward goals they didn’t think were possible. The best part of my week is watching someone regain confidence, function better at work or school, or reconnect with their loved ones (and meeting my patients’ pets over telehealth!). I especially enjoy working with teens – it’s such an exciting stage of life, and I feel lucky to play a small role in coaching and supporting them.
