Dental

Why did you become a dental hygienist?

My family has a dental lab business in Tucson, Az. I worked as a teenager with my father and siblings. However, I always liked the clinical part of dentistry. Therefore, I pursued Dental Hygiene as my career choice.

What attracted you to a community health center?

After graduating from Pima College’s dental hygiene program, I was employed by St. Elizabeth’s dental clinic which provided community dental medical and dental services. I really enjoyed my work and to be able to help people and their dental needs.

What do you enjoy or find most fulfilling about caring for patients?

I enjoy being able to help patients understand the importance of dental care and the effects it has on the body. I am pleased when a patient is interested and later shows improved oral health in the following dental appointments.

If you could be anything else, what would you want to be?

I’d be an oral surgeon or an ophthalmologist.

Do you have hobbies or a way you like to spend your time away from work?

I like to cook and work on cars. Also spending time with my wife, who is my best friend.

Do you have a favorite book, movie or TV show?

My favorite movie of all time is Tombstone. I enjoy reading westerns and horror stories
