Briauna Ramirez, RD

Registered Dietitian

Why did you become a healthcare provider?

Growing up in a Hispanic family in Phoenix, I noticed a lack of culturally appropriate nutrition resources. Nutrition can improve the health of many people, but often times it meant giving up foods that represent us. This inspired me to pursue a career as a registered dietitian so I could teach people how to nourish their body without sacrificing foods that are part of their culture.

What attracted you to a community health center for your practice?

I chose to work at a community health center because I am passionate about providing accessible care to underserved populations. Community health centers take a comprehensive approach to providing patient care, while addressing health disparities. I get to work with individuals and families and make meaningful impacts on their health and well-being.

What do you enjoy or find most fulfilling about caring for patients?

Whether I’m helping a new first-time mom learn how to breastfeed, guiding a family in making healthy eating choices, or teaching someone how to improve their blood sugar numbers, I find a lot of joy in what I do. Caring for patients is very rewarding, especially when I get to hear about all the positive changes my patients make during follow-up visits.

Do you have hobbies or a way you like to spend your time away from work?

My favorite hobby is hosting and event planning for my family and friends. I love bringing people together and creating a fun, welcoming space. I like to develop event invites and websites, serve delicious food, and come up with activities to keep everyone entertained. I get to be as creative as I want to be!

Do you have a favorite book, movie or TV show?

My favorite tv show is Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. I can rewatch this series over and over again!
