What is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)?

A registered dietitian is a healthcare professional who has completed a bachelor’s degree in nutrition or a related field, as well as a dietetic internship and passed a national examination. They are also required to maintain continuing education and must adhere to a strict code of ethics.

In summary, Registered Dietitians are highly educated, licensed and regulated healthcare professionals while nutritionists may have varying educational and professional backgrounds and may not be regulated by law.

What can I expect during a nutrition consult?

During your initial consult as part of our nutrition services at our Phoenix healthcare facility, a dietitian will work with you to complete an assessment of your current diet and habits. Based on the results of the assessment, we work with you to create a nutrition plan to help target your most important diet needs. Depending on your needs, your initial visit may be anywhere from 15 minutes to up to one hour.

What can I get nutrition help for?

If you are looking to simply eat a healthier diet, or get started on some lifestyle changes, we can help! We also can help you target more specific goals such as lowering your blood pressure, weight management, and controlling your diabetes.

Will they put me on a diet?

No. Our team of RDNs create a non-judgmental space for you to gain knowledge of nutrition and begin lifestyle changes. Your nutrition plan and goals are created with you, not for you.
