The best advice on eating healthy is the simplest advice.  Michael Pollan has written several books on how food is produced and consumed in our society and he boils it down to the easy-to-remember:  “Eat Food.  Not too much. Mostly Plants.”

If you’d like a little more guidance, the US Dept of Health & Human Services has created a great tool for helping you balance your meals.  The ChooseMyPlate graphic gives you guidelines of how much of your plate should be taken up by each of the food groups — and that helps you focus your creativity on what you CAN eat rather what you can’t.
