Flu Season is Here, It’s Time to Get Vaccinated

Flu season is here. And that means it’s time to protect yourself and your family with an annual flu vaccination.

Flu vaccinations are the most effective way to prevent influenza and its potentially severe complications. And since the flu changes and mutates every year, it’s important to get a new vaccine yearly – designed specifically for the current year’s virus.

Why should you get a flu vaccination? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are many potential benefits.

  • It helps reduce the severity of an illness. Even if you get the flu after being vaccinated, the vaccine can help reduce the severity and duration of symptoms.
  • The vaccine can help prevent hospitalizations. Flu vaccination has been shown to lower the risk of hospitalization for flu-related complications, particularly in high-risk individuals like the elderly, young children, and those with chronic health conditions.
  • It’s designed to help protect more vulnerable populations and family members. Vaccination every year helps protect those more susceptible to serious flu-related complications, such as pregnant women and their unborn babies, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
  • Flu shots help slow the spread of the flu in your community. A Vaccination protects you and helps prevent the spread of flu within your community, reducing the risk for those who cannot be vaccinated, including infants under 6 months old.

Adelante is hosting a series of vaccination events in November. At Fluchella you will be able to get the current influenza vaccination with no appointment and no cost to you.
