Behavioral Health Consultants are professionals who assist patients with their biological, psychological, and social needs. The Behavioral Health Consultants are a part of your integrated care team and help guide a patient to achieve their desired goals and improved overall health.
During your consultation you will have a discussion with the Behavioral Health Consultant on ways to improve your physical and mental health. This can be done through identifying any barriers to achieving whole health and solutions to overcome them.
Consultations with a Behavioral Health Consultant can range anywhere from 10-30 minutes.
You can meet with the Behavioral Health Consultant on multiple occasions depending on your individual needs. These appointments are not to be confused with therapy sessions.
The Behavioral Health Consultant does not take the place of a mental health therapist or case manager. The Behavioral Health Consultant can assist a patient with their presenting mental and behavioral health needs utilizing solution-focused treatment and brief interventions.
Upon your appointment, you can request to meet with a Behavioral Health Consultant. You can notify the medical assistant or your provider of this request.
Your visits are confidential and HIPAA compliant. As an integrated care team, information about your plan of care, follow-ups, or points of concern are shared with your medical professionals.
Your first visit is like a Get-To-Know-Me visit. Your dietitian will ask you questions about your diet and/or past dieting experiences, work/home schedule, medical conditions, and much more. We learn about you so we can give more personalized recommendations that suit you needs and lifestyle.
Most appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes. The length of the appointment depends on your needs and questions that come up during your session. If you don’t take the full 30 minutes, that’s fine. If you and your dietitian have the time to talk for more than 30 minutes, that’s fine too! You can also request to schedule more time with your dietitian while you are planning your appointment.
This varies for everyone. If you feel you do better with more support, your dietitian can meet with you more often. On the other hand, you may only want to meet once every 3 months to follow-up on your goals. You and your dietitian can decide on your meeting frequency during your appointment.
As helpful as meal plans are, they can feel a little restrictive. Your dietitian will work with you on understanding how to balance your nutrients, so you have flexibility with your diet and can still reach your goals.
All fruits offer different vitamins and minerals that can benefit our bodies. Generally, it’s important to change up the fruit in your diet to help you meet your nutrient requirements for the day. All fruits can fit into a healthy diet. Learn more about fruit and other food groups by speaking with a dietitian.
Depending on your health goals, choosing sugar-free soda or other sugar-free drinks can be helpful in lowering total daily calories and/or blood sugar. Choosing drinks that offer vitamins and minerals without extra calories and sugar will be your best options.
Carbs, short for carbohydrates, are of the 3 big nutrients our bodies need daily. Carbs give you energy and offer a variety of nutrients like fiber and vitamins. Choosing mindful portions of carbs that are higher in fiber will give you the most health benefits.
Our board-certified providers are trained to prevent, diagnose, and treat a wide range of illnesses and injuries by delivering comprehensive care tailored to your individual needs. Your primary care providers are pivotal in helping you reach long-term health and an enhanced quality of life.
Our Registered Dietitians (RD's) provide you with support and ideas for nutrition challenges, making diet changes, and accomplishing behavior change goals. They work to accurately assess and educate you on nutrition to meet your individual health needs while setting goals and helping track your progress.
Our Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) support you in life's daily challenges, addressing behaviors, habits, medical diagnoses, and stressors. They offer help through brief solutions focused on interventions to promote positive outcomes and reduce negative symptoms that impact your health.
Our Integrated Care Coordinators facilitate comprehensive patient care by coordinating Behavioral Health, Dietitians, and the medical team to support your individual needs. Care coordinators improve your care by supporting needs such as community resources, transportation, referrals to other care organizations, and Specialty Behavioral Health services.
