Protect your baby with vaccinations, even before birth!

As a parent you watch your infants closely, delighting in each coo, stretch, and flexing of their limbs. There is nothing you wouldn’t do to protect them from harm.

That’s why it’s so important to make sure they get their vaccinations on time.

We are fortunate to live at a time when vaccines can protect babies against more than a dozen different diseases. Not too long ago, life-threatening diseases like whooping cough, polio, measles, and rubella struck thousands each year.

Unfortunately, whooping cough or pertussis, has been making a strong comeback in recent years. The highly contagious bacterial infection can give your baby violent coughing fits and leave her gasping for air with “whooping” sounds.

Pertussis can cause babies to stop breathing and the cough can last for months. Young infants are at greatest risk for getting it and suffering life-threatening complications.

The DTaP vaccine, which protects against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis, cannot be given for the first time until your baby is two months of age. Now, infants can be born protected from pertussis when pregnant moms are vaccinated in the last trimester. The mother’s antibodies transfer immunity to her baby, giving him a fighting chance against the disease when he is most vulnerable.

Vaccination is one of the best ways parents can protect infants, children and teens from 16 potentially harmful diseases.

At Adelante, we want to make sure your child is fully protected with up-to-date vaccinations.
