Barbara Jane Wallner, FNP

Family Medicine

Why did you become a healthcare provider?

As long as I can remember, I wanted to become a nurse. Medicine practice always interested me, and one degree led to pursing another.

What attracted you to a community health center for your practice?

My first NP job was working with a pediatrician so his clinic could be designated as a Rural Health clinic. From that point on I worked in Community Health clinics.

What do you enjoy or find most fulfilling about caring for patients?

I enjoy my interactions with my patients and knowing that I am helping them and educating them for better health.

Do you have hobbies or a way you like to spend your time away from work?

Horseback riding, hiking, swimming, reading, and cooking. I plan to pursue several activities in my Senior community where I live, and I do exercise daily.

If you could be anything else, what would you want to be?

I would probably want to be either a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or an attorney working on medical contract law.

Do you have a favorite book, movie or TV show?

Favorite show is The Good Doctor, favorite movie is Love with the Proper Stranger, favorite authors are Stuart Woods and Janet Evanovich.
